## Research Partners ##
We successfully ran a pilot project to test the parameters of the project from September to December with three groups of university students from Maynooth University, Dublin City University and the National College of Art and Design.

## Gaisce Challenge Partner ##
In March 2025, Met Éireann became an official Gaisce Challenge Partner.
Gaisce – The President’s Award is Ireland’s national youth award and personal development programme for young people aged 14-25. It is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland to all young people to dream big and realise their potential. 
  
Participants can take on the Irish Weather Rescue with Met Éireann project for their Bronze Award and make a significant contribution to climate research in their local areas for their Community Involvement Challenge Area.

## Information on the Daily Rainfall Registers ##

Calling all weather and climate enthusiasts! Help us recreate the past climate of Ireland.

Irish Weather Rescue

The weather records used in this project are grouped based upon the four provinces of Ireland: Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. They have also been divided into two categories: Data and Metadata. You can choose to explore the Data files where you will be asked to transcribe daily rainfall values for one month of the year or you can choose to explore the Metadata files where you will be asked to transcribe information about the station such as the station name, observer and unit of measurement.
To begin, please choose the province that you would like to explore. You will then be asked to select a county and a station. Once a station has been selected a weather record from that station will appear on the screen. 
**If this is your first visit to the project and you haven't had an introduction to the project with Met Éireann staff (normally offered to community / youth groups, schools & universities), then please navigate to the 'how-to' videos in the FAQ section under the 'About' tab**.
