FAQ

Where do I submit a Question?

Please join us on the Talk section.

I can't find the field on the card. What should I do?

We ask data from several different types of cards in one workflow.
Therefore, it may be so that the specified field does not exist on a card. In that case, please leave the entry empty.

Do participants type the entry exactly as the text is given?

Yes, please do so.
We are collecting the verbatim entries from the cards. Therefore write exactly the same words that were used originally. We have a team who checks later over everything.

I am unsure about the text. The handwriting is not clear.

Make your best guess. Other people are also entering data from the same card. We also have a team who checks later over everything.

I think I made a mistake. How do I go back to a submitted entry and correct it?

No worries! Other people are also entering data from the same card. Therefore small mistakes are just fine. We also have a team who checks later over everything.

Do I record date or a year if it is written anywhere on the card?

Please fill the Year or Date only if there is such a field on the card. They are quite rare in the Accession Cards.

Am I looking at the back and the front of the card here?

Yes, you are. These are double-sided scans, i.e. the top portion of the image is the front side and the lower portion is the backside.

I have seen very few "P.T.O."s on my cards so far; however, most have had text in the lower half of the card and that is usually "Ref: ..." Does that mean the answer to the "P.T.O." question is yes or no?

These are two-sided scans, i.e. the lower portion of the scan is the backside of the card. If there is any text, answer 'Yes'.

Some of the text is struck out. How do I record that?

You can ignore that part of the text as it is not valid entry any more.

Some of the text contains a ditto mark sign ", indicating that the words above it are to be repeated. How do I record that?

In such a case, it would help us if you transcribe the actual word or phrase.

I see a red sticker on the card saying "FINISHED" or "ALREADY SEEN", What does that mean?

FINISHED means that this subject already has enough classifications.
ALREADY SEEN means that you’ve already seen this image.
In both cases, try refreshing your browser for a new image.
