What if I am not sure what animal is in the photo?
Try your best to correctly determine the species of animal present. However, we understand sometimes animals are obscured or cryptic. In these instances, make your best guess (it is okay if it is incorrect). Do not be afraid to make a wrong choice - multiple volunteers will analyze the same image, so we can make an inference on what the animal is based on group consensus. Please do not use the "A different animal" option unless you believe the animal in the image is truly not listed within the choices provided. "A different animal" does not mean "I don't know"!
We do not provide an "I don't know" option for you because we want to collect the best consensus on what the animal(s) in a photo could potentially be. When there is an "I don't know" button, more people would press the button, which makes it more difficult to figure out the species in each image quickly. Even if you are unsure of what animal species is in the photo, still make your best possible guess!

What if I am not sure what behavior an animal is doing?
Try your best to determine the behavior, even if you are not totally sure. Reference the field guide for more information on positions and behaviors.

Why is this project not including birds in data analysis?
This project particularly focuses on urban mammals and their behavior in different landscape types. For this reason, we are not collecting data about the different bird species in our photos.
