The audio clips in these workflows have been analyzed by AI to possibly contain the named species. Choose a species you are familiar with already or learn the vocalizations of a new species! Beginners may want to start with the Northern Cardinal, Chipping Sparrow, and Cedar Waxwing.

Once we make these data research quality, a door will open to a massive library of bird vocalizations from around the world, which can be used to answer any number of scientific questions!

    About Chirp Check

The Integrative Ecology Lab at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, USA, is studying bird species in cities and surrounding areas to better understand how bird species provide ecosystem services.
We use data from audio-recording devices that capture thousands of hours of birdsong and artificial intelligence (AI) to identify which bird species are present in the recordings. However, AI has its limits, and that’s where you come in! By verifying the species identifications that the AI made, you’ll help us enhance the accuracy of the data and advance bird research.
