The Team

Eric Tymstra

Eric Tymstra, a PhD student in Dr. Gail Patricelli's lab at UC Davis, is studying the behavior and conservation of Greater sage-grouse.
Eric is interested in linking behavior, endocrinology and habitat selection of these awesome birds to their conservation. Eric has previously worked with marine mammals, birds of prey and black rails. He hopes that his research will impact the way that conservation policy considers behavior and community driven science. When not studying grouse, Eric is fly fishing, reading, painting, cooking or, more likely than not, bird watching.

Dr. Gail Patricelli

Dr. Gail Patricelli is a professor at UC Davis and has been studying sexual selection in birds since completing her PhD at University of Maryland, College Park where she studied bowerbirds in Australia. Dr. Patricelli is an expert in animal behavior and communication and is also invested in conservation efforts. Recently, animal behavior has become more relevant in conservation biology. Dr. Patricelli's work not only addresses the theories underpinning animal communication and behavior but also serves to impact conservation actions. See a list of publications here
