Former Team Members

Mackenzie Druskins: Mackenzie was a Snapshot Wisconsin Volunteer Coordinator from 2019-2025. She enjoyed recruiting new volunteers, making Snapshot accessible for everyone, and creating and maintaining various maps for the project. She now works with the Wisconsin Department of Justice as a laboratory technician in the DNA Databank.

Marie Jensen: Marie Jensen was a Volunteer Coordinator for the Snapshot Wisconsin project from 2023-2025. She now works at the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin.

Ryan Bemowski: Ryan Bemowski was a Data Scientist and Data Engineer on the Snapshot Wisconsin team from 2019 to 2024. He now works the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a Data Science Facilitator.

Taylor Peltier: Taylor Peltier was a Research Scientist and Operations Manager on the Snapshot Wisconsin team for 4 total years. She now is pursuing her PhD at Utah State University where she will be focusing her work on black bears and human interactions in Michigan.

Claire Viellieux: Claire was a Volunteer Coordinator for the Snapshot Wisconsin project from 2019 to 2023. She now works for the Chazen Museum of Art in Madison, Wisconsin.

Emily Buege Donovan: Emily served as the Spatial and Data Analyst for Snapshot Wisconsin from 2018 - 2022. Emily departed from Snapshot Wisconsin to pursue her PhD at Southern Illinois University, where she is a Delyte and Dorothy Morris Doctoral Fellow. Her dissertation focuses on the movement and reproductive ecologies of Galapagos giant tortoises.

Jamie Bugel: Jamie was a Research Technician and Natural Resources Educator with Snapshot Wisconsin from October 2018 to April 2021. Her background is in participatory research, and Snapshot Wisconsin is such an awesome example of this. She is currently the Market Manager for the Dane County Farmers' Market in Madison, Wisconsin.

Sarah Cameron: Sarah was a Volunteer Coordinator for Snapshot Wisconsin from 2017 to 2021 before heading west to Portland, Oregon. Sarah now works for Oregon State University – Extension coordinating educational programs for landowners. Rumor has it she can still be found checking her dad’s trail camera in Crawford County when visiting home.

Susan Frett: Susan worked as a volunteer and outreach coordinator for Snapshot Wisconsin, helping to launch the program in 2016 and partnering with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to manage the cameras located in the elk reintroduction zones. After leaving the program in 2019 she moved to Maui where she now works as the Conservation Manager at Pacific Whale Foundation. At PWF she works closely with the research department taking what they are learning on the water and developing programs to address the five major threats to whales and dolphins which include marine plastic pollution, unsustainable tourism, bycatch, vessel collisions with marine animals and climate change.

Mira Johnson: Mira was an Intern at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Office of Applied Science and worked closely with the Snapshot Wisconsin project. She is a junior at Lawrence University, with a major in biology and a minor in studio art. She’s interested in marine systems, wildlife conservation, and using graphic design as a tool for communicating science.

Michael Kamp: Michael worked for Snapshot Wisconsin from 2019 to 2022 on communication and volunteer coordination. When not working, Michael enjoys birding, paddling, and cross-country skiing. Currently, Michael is working for the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin as an Outreach and Development Specialist.

Jessica Knackert: Jessica was a Volunteer Coordinator for Snapshot Wisconsin from 2021 to 2022. She now serves as the Milwaukee Wildlife Conservation Educator for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Christina Locke: Christina worked in volunteer coordination and scientific support for Snapshot Wisconsin and has since moved to Minnesota. Presently at the Minnesota DNR, Christina works as a Pollinator Conservation Coordinator.

Ally Magnin: Ally was a part of the Snapshot team from 2018 through February 2022. During her time with the project, she enjoyed coordinating elk monitoring efforts, collaborating with team members to improve user interfaces, and making connections with new partners to diversify the volunteer base. She now works in the WDNR Wildlife Management Program as the Assistant Deer and Elk Specialist.

Vivek Malleshappa: Vivek worked for Snapshot Wisconsin in IT systems and data coordination from 2017 - 2019. Now, Vivek works for Conservation International as a Data Engineer.

Annie McDonnell: Annie was a Research Technician and Natural Resources Educator with the Snapshot Wisconsin team from 2021-2022. She is currently the Wolf Monitoring and Carnivore Tracking Program Manager with the Wisconsin DNR.

Organizations

Members of the Snapshot Wisconsin team are scientists at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). Along with partners and the public, the WDNR manages fish, wildlife, forests, parks, air and water resources while promoting a healthy, sustainable environment and a full range of outdoor opportunities.

With funding from the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program, the WDNR purchases trail cameras and provides ongoing support for the project.

The Snapshot Wisconsin team collaborates with researchers at the University of Wisconsin Madison in the Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology.

Members of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Wisconsin Chapter make up the trail camera monitoring volunteer base for many of the Snapshot Wisconsin trail cameras located in the elk reintroduction zones in Wisconsin.

The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin supports Snapshot Wisconsin by promoting volunteer opportunities to its network of members and partners across Wisconsin and supporting capacity building and fundraising efforts for the program. The Foundation’s mission is to provide sustainable funding for Wisconsin’s most imperiled species and public lands, while connecting generations to the wonders of Wisconsin’s lands, waters, and wildlife through conservation, education, engagement and giving.

The Wisconsin Society for Science Teachers (WSST) is the largest membership organization in Wisconsin focused on the advancement of science education. WSST members make up a portion of Snapshot Wisconsin’s volunteer base and help to increase the educational impact of the program.
