Let's Discover Wildlife Together!

Snapshot Wisconsin provides a great opportunity to integrate science and technology in the classroom, and a unique way for students to learn about wildlife. By partnering with over 200 educators, we pride ourselves on being an entry point for conservation and outdoor recreation. You don't need to host a camera to incorporate Snapshot Wisconsin data in your classroom! Educators are able to use the Data Dashboard or our lesson plans that are free, online tools.

Lesson Plans

Snapshot Wisconsin designed several lesson plans for students of all ages, and they are freely available to educators, whether or not they are hosting a trail camera. These lessons are a great way to incorporate exciting concepts about Wisconsin wildlife into your classroom, all while meeting Wisconsin Standards for Science. Students are able to become wildlife detectives, learn about trophic cascades, or even host your own Snap-A-Thon!

Data Dashboard

Do you ever wonder what wildlife secretly lives in your area? Do you want to see how species are distributed across the state of Wisconsin? Make sure to check out the Data Dashboard. It's a great way to introduce data literacy, scientific concepts, science communication, and even math concepts.

This free, online tool was designed to visualize the data collected on Snapshot Wisconsin trail cameras. You can check out which species has been detected in each county, what time of day different species are most active, and how animal activity changes throughout the year. We've had teachers assign their students one of the 22 animals on the Data Dashboard and become experts by using our data!
