We've finally run out of data, and together you've rescued 50 years of tide gauge data in just over one year. Thanks for all your help!

The Team

People

Andy Matthews

Andy is the technical manager at the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL), responsible for the storage and distribution of sea level data measured at tide gauges across the world. He is a member of the Global Sea Level Observing System (GLOSS) Group of Experts and is interested in making sea level data accessible to whoever wants to use it.

She is head of the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level and also a member of the GLOSS Group of Experts. She has a particular interest in data archaeology and rescuing historical sea level data.

Joanne Williams

Jo is a sea level and tides researcher at the National Oceanography Centre. She is interested in changes in sea level over time, the differences between tides in different places, and whether tides have changed over time.

Organisations

Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL)

The PSMSL collects and publishes sea level data from across the globe. By working with over 80 organisations worldwide, they produce a dataset of monthly average sea level that is key to our understanding of how our oceans are changing.

British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC)

BODC is the UK's national marine data centre. Its many responsibilities include the managing the data from the UK Tide Gauge Network of 42 sites.

National Oceanography Centre (NOC)

PSMSL and BODC are part of the UK's National Oceanography Centre, which has sites in Liverpool and Southampton. The Liverpool site has its roots in the Liverpool Tidal Institute and Bidston Observatory on the Wirral peninsula.
