MB07 - The Insects of the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência

What is the purpose of this project?

With this project, we aim to accelerate the digitization of the insect collection of the Museu Natural de História Natural e da Ciência, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal.
In the future, this data will be made public on online repositories and will contribute to our knowledge on insect biodiversity.

What is the Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência?

The National Museum of Natural History and Science (https://www.museus.ulisboa.pt/), is part of the University of Lisbon, and is located in Lisbon, Portugal.

What is the Passos de Carvalho collection?

This is a private collection compilled by the entomologist José Passos de Carvalho (http://triplov.com/passos/j_passos_de_carvalho/index.htm), and was recently donated to the museum.

How can I help?

We have 2 workflows available. You can help us with the transcription of information found in specimen labels, or if you area specialist or have good knowledge of the systematics of these specimens you can help us validate current taxonomic data associated with the specimens or produce your own new taxonomic determination.

I made a mistake, can I go back and change it?

You don not need to worry too much, data will be reviewed and validated. But you can always leave a message in "Talk".

What if I can't read a label or part of a label?

We will have several questions to check how sure you are of your questions and will ask you about your doubts. You can input there information about parts of the labels you were unsure of.

What if I have a Question?

If you have any question or comments you can post them on Talk. We will check Talk regularly and get back to you as soon as possible.
