The Team

Development
Hiro Ono - Creating AI for spacecraft @ NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. A backpacker (roved 30+ countries), author, father of a princess. Born in Japan, grew up on Earth, bound for space.
Deegan Atha - Robotics Technologist developing computer vision and AI @ NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Purdue Boilermaker, scuba diver, hiker, skier. Training the next generation of robotic explorers.
Michael Swan is a Master’s student researcher with the Interaction Lab at the University of Southern California. His work is currently centered around robots capable of fully autonomous exploration and human interaction. In collaboration with a team at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Michael develops AI models capable of understanding terrain on Mars. Michael graduated from Walla Walla University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, worked for the U.S. Navy for 3+ years, and then returned to school at USC for his Master's degree. Olivier Lamarre is a Ph.D. student with the Space and Terrestrial Autonomous Robotic Systems (STARS) Laboratory at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on enabling long-term and resource-aware autonomy onboard planetary rovers, in collaboration with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He received his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering and completed a minor in Geology at McGill University in 2017. Webpage
Hamsa Shwetha Venkataram is a Data Scientist at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory by profession and passion, a USC Trojan in spirit; currently in the pursuit of knowing the origin, and future of the universe using AI.
Shreyansh Daftry - AI Researcher @ NASA developing intelligent robots for Earth, Mars and beyond; CMU Tartan, Student Pilot, Globe Trotter and Astrophotographer.
Miriam Cruz - Architecture and Interior Designer by profession; working on NASA JPL under the Engineering Design Group. Born in Mexico City and completed my BS at San Francisco California. Mother of a wonderful 9 year old boy, who wants to be an engineer.
Lizbeth B. De La Torre - Liz is a Creative Technologist in The Studio at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she works on creative projects and tech demos for various space missions and mission formulation for future missions. She earned her MS from the MIT Media Lab. With an BFA in Illustration-Entertainment Art designing vehicles, props and environments for feature film animation from Art Center College of Design, she uses design thinking methods and techniques to imagine the future of technology in space.
Giacomo Cerretti is a NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) fellow at JPL. He holds a BSc and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Chemistry. His work focuses on the development of new and more performing materials to improve the efficiencies of RTGs (Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators) to power deep-space spacecraft for exploratory missions.
Federico Rossi - Robotics Technologist with the Maritime and Multi-Agent Autonomy Group at JPL. Italian native. Optimal control and decision-making in multi-robot systems for planetary exploration. Amateur astronomer and photographer.
Design
Tomohiro Imai - Hobbyist illustrator/craftsman, planetary exploration enthusiast since childhood. Honored to design a logo and contribute to NASA JPL's project! Looking forward to the new technologies for Mars exploration!
