Dr. Wouter Verschoof-van der Vaart - Leiden University & Landschap Erfgoed Utrecht

Wouter Verschoof-van der Vaart is the project leader and researcher focussing on developing tools for the automated detection of archaeological objects in remotely-sensed data. His research interests lie in the practical application of remote sensing techniques (such as aerial photography, geophysics and LiDAR). Moreover, he works as an archaeologist at Landschap Erfgoed Utrecht, furthering the connection between the public and the cultural heritage of the province of Utrecht.


Anton Cruysheer - Landschap Erfgoed Utrecht

Anton Cruysheer is heritage program manager at Landschap Erfgoed Utrecht and is active in the field of heritage and archaeology.


Tessel Grijp – Steunpunt Monumenten en Archeologie Noord-Holland

Tessel is an archaeologist and communications officer at Support Centre for Monuments and Archaeology North Holland (Steunpunt Monumenten en Archeologie Noord-Holland) on behalf of the NMF Foundation. In this role, she is responsible for communicating about Scars of War to the municipalities and on social media.


Annika Blonk-van den Bercken MA – Steunpunt Monumenten en Archeologie Noord-Holland

Annika is an archaeologist and coordinator of the Support Centre for Monuments and Archaeology North Holland (Steunpunt Monumenten en Archeologie Noord-Holland) on behalf of the NMF foundation. In this role, she presents and writes about archaeology and heritage policy for municipal heritage officials. Scars of War is a project through which residents of the area can investigate archaeology in the Gooi region of North Holland and the Utrechts Heuvelrug. It is a good opportunity to draw attention to archaeology in the municipalities!


Dr. Eva Kaptijn - Landschap Erfgoed Utrecht

Eva Kaptijn is the project coordinator of Scar of War, responsible for the day-to-day organization of the project and communication with the citizen scientists. Her research interests center on landscape archaeology, archaeological survey techniques, human-environment interactions, and prehistoric archaeology.
