By far the most common question we get is: What are you seeing out there?!

And our answer is... coyotes! Every camera we have set up so far has captured at least one coyote visit a month. Gaviota Coast coyotes seem to really like the beach!

How do you keep people from stealing/vandalizing the cameras?

We have gotten lucky so far, or Santa Barbara is just a really science-friendly community. We like to thing that the signs we attach to our cameras do a good job of explaining the research, and people seem to get really excited about it!

There are a lot of photos at night.. do you ever see animals on the beach during the day?

Yes!! On the more remote coastlines we definitely see wildlife foraging on the beach during the day. Especially coyotes and vultures.
