What are you asking me to do?

There is one single task: You listen to short audio clips and tell us whether you hear is a mosquito sound. Easy, isn't it!?

What do you want to do with these classification results?

We would like to use these labelled audio recordings to help us improve machine learning algorithms that we are developing to detect mosquitoes based on sound. A gentle introduction of machine learning algorithms that we have deployed to low-cost smartphones can be found in https://arxiv.org/pdf/1711.06346.pdf. The huge labelled dataset built with your help at Zooniverse can also enormously benefit deep learning techniques that we are building: https://arxiv.org/pdf/1705.05180.pdf

Where can I find some sample mosquito recordings and background recordings?

On the homepage, you could find two workflows. The ''Classify (training purpose only)" workflow contains 50 samples of mosquito recordings and background recordings, while the ''classify'' workflow is the default workflow that contains thousands of unlabelled recordings, which are waiting you to click, play, and classify!

Please be aware that as the training workflow only contains a limited number of sample recordings, they are by no means representative to all mosquito recordings or background recordings. Please base your decision primarily on what you hear for each unlabelled recording you encounter in the "Classify" workflow.

I think I made a mistake, can I go back and change a classification?

Once you have submitted your answer, you won’t be able to go back and work on it again.
