There is a tremendous amount of interesting science that is only made possible by the incredible contributions of citizen scientists. Every single classification makes a difference!
TobiasGIn this project, citizen scientists can help explore some of the most faint and mysterious events in the Universe using data from the Rubin Observatory.
Finding faint signals, by definition, is hard. This is especially true if the object is located in a bright host galaxy; even state-of-the-art automated pipelines can struggle in these cases. However, by disentangling real signals from artefacts, you can help astronomers uncover faint and rare phenomena. These include phenomena such as pre-supernova variability, where stars show signs of smaller outbursts before exploding, and common-envelope events, where one star swallows another nearby star.
