About The Colors of Pollen

When you think of pollen what color comes to mind?

If your answer is YELLOW, you are correct. About 75% of plant species have yellow (or white) colored pollen. But did you know that the remaining portion of species has pollen color across the color spectrum?

See for yourself:

The genus, Geranium, has flowers that appear to be the exception (not the rule) when it comes to pollen color and we want to know WHY?

Click "learn more" for more information on why we're interested in pollen color and click "get started" to begin classifying color! And don't forget to check out our field guide on the right side of your browser to see all the colors of pollen in Geranium!
