All of the data for this project was collected by Peter Stewart, Peter Leidura, and Ibrahim Adan. During their work at Loisaba Conservancy, they were also assisted by Boniface Lowoi, head Lion Ranger in Laikipia.
The field team were supported by the amazing staff of Mpala Research Centre and Loisaba Conservancy.
The project was supervised by Dr. Wayne Dawson, Prof. Russell Hill, Prof. Phil Stephens, and Prof. Mark Whittingham.
Durham University
The Durham Invasion Science Lab, part of Durham University's Conservation Ecology Group, works to understand the causes and consequences of biological invasions by introduced species, such as Opuntia.
Mpala Research Centre
Mpala Research Centre is a 48,000 acre 'living laboratory', where scientists can work to advance basic science, address real-world problems, and ensure that sustainable livelihoods and economic advancement are synonymous with wildlife conservation.
Loisaba Conservancy
Loisaba Conservancy is a 57,000 acre wildlife conservancy. Their mission to protect and enhance critical wildlife diversity, abundance and habitat in the Loisaba landscape while concurrently supporting sustainable livestock production and improving the lives of neighbouring communities. Both tourism and livestock bring revenue to the land, in an aim to being self-sustainable and offer over 300 jobs to local communities.
