Karen L MastersWe need your help to classify the internal structures of galaxies which are being observed by a survey called MaNGA. MaNGA ("Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory") is part of the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys and is mapping the inner workings of thousands of nearby galaxies. This survey is taking spectra from up to 127 different points inside a hexagonal shape placed over a galaxy, and we want to know which of the features within the galaxy each spectrum is coming from, so we can separate light from spiral arms, galactic bars, bulges, nuclei and more.
