Annotations are handwritten additions to the page after printing or publication. These can be notes in the margins, underlined text, doodles and pointers, and other markings.
If a mark looks like it might be from a pen or pencil, even if it was not intentional, you should treat this as an annotation. If the marks look like they are most likely stains from food, liquid, or mold/mildew, do not mark these as annotations.
When classifying the page content (the first question) and the annotations, you are able to choose multiple answers. For example, if you are classifying a page that has both printed text and images, you can choose both. For annotations, if it is in the margins and contains an arrow or other doodle, you can classify it as both "marginalia" and "drawings/doodles."
