Summary
This paper explores the effectiveness of the Gravity Wave Zoo in classifying the occurrence rates of gravity waves, aurora, and instabilities. How often do they occur? How reliable is citizen science compared to researcher classifications? We find that the Gravity Wave Zoo is highly effective in estimating how often gravity waves occur, and explore connections with the atmospheric physics that govern wave motion. We also explore user experience and highlight the value of citizen science as a means of education and community involvement.
