Heads up! This project contains images of deceased animals that have been preserved as museum specimens, which are vital for conservation and research. | Ce projet contient des images d'animaux décédés qui ont été conservés sous forme de spécimens de musée, essentiels à la préservation des espèces et à la recherche.
Subject info
On each specimen image, you can click on Subject info to see more information about that subject, and even follow the link to the museum database.
Favourites and collections
You can also favourite any specimens and add them to your personal collection for later viewing.
Frogs with bent or missing limbs
Some specimens, especially older ones, may not be preserved in a way that allows easy measurement. If a specimen is unable to be measured, flag it by commenting on the image (e.g. #missing #unmeasurable).
Measuring the right side
To measure tibia length, always measure the frog’s right side. This will always be the side closest to the top of the screen.
Canadian Museum of Nature (CMN) Editions!
You may see some workflows labelled as a "CMN Edition". This means that specimen images were taken at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa. Not only are you contributing to the New Brunswick Museum collections, but through collaborations with other museums in North America, you're contributing to a much larger dataset! Keep an eye out for other museum tags that will be featured soon! To learn more about the CMN and their work, click here
