The search for asteroids, in particular Near Earth Asteroids (NEOs), is very important. Some of these objects pose impact risks with Earth and finding them before they hit may, in fact, save lives.

    About IASC's Asteroid Search

Participants will help identify faint asteroids from Pan-STARRS images.
Asteroids are large pieces of rock and ice that orbit the sun. They are important for scientific research as they can provide insight into how the solar system was formed. They can also pose a threat to life and infrastructure on Earth. Because of this detecting and identifying asteroids is a very important field in astronomy.
The citizen scientists on Zooniverse will look at faint asteroid candidates and simply indicate whether or not it is an asteroid.
