Finished! Looks like this project is out of data at the moment!
Thank you! With your help, we've compiled the first comprehensive catalog of clumpy galaxies in the local Universe. Stay tuned over the next few months for our first scientific results!

In the early Universe clumpy galaxies were everywhere. Nowadays they are few and far between. We need your help to discover what happened to them!
Galaxy Zoo: Clump ScoutOne of the big questions in galaxy evolution is why there are very few galaxies with clumpy structure in the local Universe when they were so common in the past.
We have found few examples of nearby clumpy galaxies, but we'd love to find more! By finding a larger sample of these local galaxies we can hope to answer that and other questions.
Since nearby galaxies are easier to observe than galaxies further away, we can also study them in greater detail.
This project is brought to you by the Galaxy Zoo team.
Clump Scout was developed with awards from both the US National Science Foundation and the ESCAPE Horizon2020 project.
ESCAPE - The European Science Cluster of Astronomy & Particle Physics ESFRI Research Infrastructures has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Grant Agreement n° 824064.
