Question 1. How do I get started?
Go to the Homepage of the project and scroll down to find a “get started” button. There, you may choose which workflow you want to work with, among ports, natural sea caves and artificial reefs. Then a pop-up tutorial will appear. You will be guided through the tutorial’s frames in order to understand how you can work within our project. You can find additional and more general information relevant to the project’s subject if you open the “Field Guide” tab on the right of the screen. Another way to get started if you are already familiar with the procedures and guidelines is to press directly on the tab “Classify” (on the up-right of the screen) and you will be then directed to the default habitat.

Question 2. Which workflow should I start with?
Each workflow is a different habitat, i.e. environment in the sea. You may choose whichever environment attracts you the most. The process remains the same with the only difference being that the images are taken from different environments: a) ports, b) natural sea caves and c) artificial reefs. Depending on where you’d like to dive into, go ahead and choose.

Question 3. May I classify more than one group of organisms in each image?
Each image might have organisms from different taxonomic categories but we would like you to identify only the organism included in the yellow circles. Each yellow circle includes only one organism. So, the classification should be based on this circle and hence the answer should be only one for each image.

Question 4. What if I’m not sure of the right classification of an image?
This is totally fine! The available filters will help you eliminate your choices but if you still can’t come to a decision, you may “talk” about it by pressing on the “Done & Talk” tab and share your concerns with us. We will do our best to help you and respond as fast as we can!

Question 5. What about the “already seen” label on the top-left of the image?
Congratulations! If this label appears, this means that you have already classified all the images of this specific workflow (i.e. ports, caves, reefs). You may now switch to another one from the home page of the project.
