Viruses are fascinating - there are so many different shapes and sizes, and we keep discovering new ones!
DrSaskiaWe are researchers at the University of Warwick looking at viruses we find in ponds, rivers and canals in the UK. Viruses outnumber every living thing on the planet and almost all of them are completely harmless to humans. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. We know about lots of different types, but new virus types are being discovered all the time.
This project is part of a larger effort where volunteers also provide samples. Please join us, and keep an eye out for anything unusual - who's knows, you may discover a completely new virus!
