FAQ

So what exactly am I doing?

If you are interested in helping classify for our project, your job is to scan the provided footage for fish. Often, you may not see any fish, this is ok and exactly why your help is invaluable. If there is a fish or fishes, you can look at our Field Guide to try to identify the species if you are curious. 😃

What are those small things drifting by the camera?

There can be any number of things floating in the water column, from some particles of debris to zooplankton or even water mites.

Oh no there is litter in my video!

Actually, if you see something white, yellow or orange like a bag or balloon that is likely a boat fender/buoy. We use these attached to our camera stands via yellow rope, so that the cameras' locations are visible above water. This allows the research team to return and retrieve them, while letting boaters know there is something underwater to avoid.

I have a question or I found something interesting – who should I talk to?

Use 'Talk' on the site that can be found directly by clicking on the talk button after finishing a classification or using the menu link along the top.

How do I keep up with latest news and developments on this project?
