This Citizen Science project is being developed for a doctorate degree in Computer Science at the Institute of Science and Technology of the Federal University of São Paulo (ICT-UNIFESP) by student Fernanda Beatriz J. R. Dallaqua and with the guidance of Dr. Álvaro Luiz Fazenda and Dr. Fabio Augusto Faria. The goal is to ally Citizen Science and Machine Learning, creating a small but efficient training set with volunteers' responses, making it not entirely necessary to use experts to monitor tropical forests, resulting in a faster and cheaper procedure and possible to be done in countries where there are no official monitoring programs.

Fernanda Beatriz J. R. Dallaqua has bachelor degrees in Science and Technology (2015) and in Computer Science (2016) from ICT-UNIFESP. She began her doctorate in March/2016, with an end date for February/2020.

Dr. Álvaro Luiz Fazenda is undergraduate in Scientific Computing at Universidade de Taubaté (1994), master's (1997) and ph.d. (2002) in Applied Computing at National Institute for Space
Research (INPE) and Pos-Doc (2013) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He is currently Adjunct Professor at ICT-UNIFESP. Has knowledge in Computer Science, acting on the following subjects: High-performance computing, Citizen Science, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Applied Meteorology.

Dr. Fabio Augusto Faria received a BSc in Computer Science (2007) from the State University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), the MSc degree in Computer Science (2010) and a doctorate in Computer Science (2014) from University of Campinas (Brazil). He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Science and Technology, Federal University of Sao Paulo (Brazil). His research interests include information fusion, data mining, machine learning, and image processing.
