About Decoding Punch Cards
On April 6, 1917 the United States Congress declared the United States' entry into the war effort. Within hours, John Mott, the General Secretary of the American Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), sent a telegram to President Wilson offering the full cooperation of the YMCA in the war effort. From 1917 - 1919 a grand total of 25,926 men and women provided morale-boosting services ranging from education, recreation, and religious services at home and abroad. Help us uncover who these people were, and how they made life better for the men who served.
