Herbig-Haro objects are some of the rarest and most beautiful objects in the Universe. Will you help us to find them?
astrotravWe are looking for Herbig-Haro (HH) objects, which are jets of gas produced by newly-forming protostars. HH objects are quite rare- only about a thousand of them are known to exist! They are important because they can show us where stars are forming. We are searching for HH objects in giant clouds of gas inside our galaxy using the Dark Energy Camera (DECam) on the Blanco 4-meter telescope at the Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory in Chile. The images produced by this camera are huge- 570 megapixels each– and we need your help to search them!
