Welcome! This project recently migrated onto Zooniverse’s new architecture. For details, see here.
As part of the Communal Biodiversity Atlas (ABC) of Meygal, we are seeking to better understand the species present in the area. To achieve this, several initiatives have been implemented.
First, field surveys are regularly conducted to observe and catalog local fauna and flora. Additionally, we collaborate with other organizations that possess valuable expertise and knowledge about the two municipalities. Lastly, we utilize modern detection tools, such as camera traps, to capture images of the species present.
The Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LPO) Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes has five camera traps that are distributed across the territory during several campaigns.
For 2025, two types of monitoring have been established :
Aquatic wildlife survey in the Sumène River area (traps were left for 7 weeks)
Forest mammal survey, where traps were moved to forested areas to monitor mammals
These initiatives will enable us to better understand and protect the natural riches of our territory.
