Our Team

Alex Drlica-Wagner (@kadrlica)

Scientist, Fermilab; Associate Professor, University of Chicago

DrlicaWagnerAlexCropped.jpg

DELVE Principal Investigator and long-time near-field cosmology enthusiast.

Chin Yi Tan (@ywyh)

PhD student , Physics, University of Chicago

chinYiCropped.png

Interested in investigating the identity and properties of dark matter through the study of Milky Way satellite galaxies

Jack Sharp (@sharpjack)

Undergraduate Student, Astrophysics, University of Chicago

JackSharpCropped2.jpg

Interested in using dwarf galaxies to learn about dark matter and galaxy formation, Jack is helping out with the setup and execution of the Zooniverse workflow.

Kate Overdeck (@koverdeck)

Post-bacc, Astrophysics, University of Chicago

KateCropped3.jpeg

Interested in dwarf galaxies as laboratories for probing dark matter, and currently exploring how the combined power of citizen science and AI can accelerate discovery in this area.

Maggie Hirschauer (@mhirschauer)

Student, IMSA

Interested in dwarf galaxies as laboratories for probing dark matter, and currently exploring how the combined power of citizen science and AI can accelerate discovery in this area.

Cliff Johnson (@lcjohnso)

Astronomer, Northwestern University & Adler Planetarium

Cliff-JohnsonCropped.jpg

An astronomer who researches star formation and star clusters in the Local Group and provides technical support for the project as co-director for the Zooniverse.

Will Cerny (@willcerny)

Graduate Student, Astronomy Yale University

WillCernyCropped.jpg

Will is experienced in the discovery and characterization of ultra-faint Milky Way satellites with deep imaging and spectroscopy

Andrew Pace (@pvpace1)

Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Virginia

Andrew PaceCropped.png

Andrew uses dwarf galaxies as probe to study dark matter and galaxy formation. Andrew helps verify dwarf galaxy candidates by exploring Gaia astrometric data and working on spectroscopic follow-up.

Clara Martínez-Vázquez

Assistant Astronomer, International Gemini Observatory/NSF NOIRLab

claraCropped.jpg

Interested in the study of variable stars as stellar tracers and distance indicators in dwarf galaxies. Clara was DELVE-WIDE coordinator from 2021-2025.

Ting Li

Assistant Professor, Astronomy & Astrophysics, University of Toronto

TingLiCropped.jpg

Ting’s research focuses on near-field cosmology. In particular, Ting studies metal-poor stars in the Milky Way Galaxy and nearby galaxies to understand how they form and to understand the nature of dark matter. Ting and her team is helping out with spectroscopic follow ups on the dwarf galaxies discovered by DELVE.

Jonah Medoff

Graduate Student, Physics, Harvard University (formerly undergraduate in Astrophysics at University of Chicago)

JonahMedoffCropped.png

Interested in exploring the satellite populations of isolated, low-mass hosts, Jonah is conducting a dwarf galaxy search around the LMC analog, NGC 55, as part of the DELVE-DEEP collaboration.

Gustavo Medina

Postdoc, University of Toronto

GustavoMedinaToledoCropped.png

Gustavo's research interests focus on the use of stars and stellar systems in the Galactic outskirts to reconstruct the formation history of the Milky Way. To this end, he uses the Zooniverse workflow to search for new ultra-faint dwarf galaxies and clusters.

Guilherme Limberg

Postdoc, Astrophysics, University of Chicago

Guilherme LimbergCropped.png

Interested in dwarf galaxy formation, evolution, and chemical enrichment. Currently using the Zooniverse workflow to help identify new dwarf galaxes in DELVE data.
