Finished! Looks like this project is out of data at the moment!
PhD Student at the University of Nottingham, fengchen11@hotmail.com
Feng is fascinated by how humans see things that computers cannot see. He is convinced that by studying how humans perform a simple visual task that we can use this to not only solve serious problems for society but also make computers see the world better. His MSc (at the University of Edinburgh) thesis directly explores this in the context of agriculture and plant imaging. He is now working towards his PhD in the Computer Vision Lab at the University of Nottingham.
Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Edinburgh
Valerio’s PhD is on unsupervised representation learning to help solve difficult problems in computer vision, such as counting leaves with automated algorithms. He still cannot beat the human! All his efforts in building better algorithms translate to better software tools for plant scientists. He is a major contributor to the Phenotiki image suite.
Chancellor’s Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, S.Tsaftaris@ed.ac.uk
Sotirios (or Sotos) believes that if we have suitable tools (software and hardware) to image and quantify plant reactions will help us create more sustainable agriculture in the future. For the past 8 years thanks to support from the European Commission, and UK funding bodies (EPSRC and BBSRC) he develops phenotyping solutions that are affordable and rely on machine learning. He contributes to Phenotiki and actively promotes interdisciplinary research in this area.
