This project wouldn't work without your contributions. Thank you for helping classify underwater video on Deep Lake Explorer!

Deep Lake Explorer

About Deep Lake Explorer

See for yourself how invaders like zebra mussels, quagga mussels, and round gobies can transform ecosystems in the Great Lakes. If you are lucky, you may even catch sight of native fishes and even tiny insects living along the bottom of the lake.

Your classifications of underwater videos collected in the Great Lakes help us understand the extent of invasive species across the Great Lakes, and the associations between invasive species and different types of habitat. The results of your classifications will be used to support decisions made for the management, restoration, and protection of the Great Lakes.

The videos on the site right now were collected in Lake Huron in 2017, and in Lake Ontario and the Niagara River in 2018.
