South Sudan is the most spectacular place that I have ever worked - the tropical "forgotten forests" are truly magical but in desperate need of protection.
South Sudan DiversityCamThe wildlife of South Sudan is amazing and the habitats unique. The southwestern corner of South Sudan contains an incredible tropical transition zone, where the fauna and flora of East Africa meet that of West and Central Africa. Our camera trapping efforts have focused on this region and our goal is to fully identify animals in our images to the species level.
Sadly, both animals and their environs are imperiled in this war-torn nation. Despite many challenges and even danger, conservationists at Bucknell University and Fauna & Flora International remain committed to the protection of wildlife and their habitats.
Our partnerships with local communities and the South Sudanese Wildlife and Conservation Service ensure that conservation is a sustainable grassroots effort. Documenting biodiversity is a critical component to enacting conservation in the region but we need your help. Please consider joining our efforts today!
