About Snapshot Venetia

Hundreds of camera traps spread across southern Africa are providing a powerful new window into the dynamics of Africa's most elusive wildlife species. We need your help to classify all the different animals caught in millions of camera trap images. These camera images come from Venetia Limpopo Nature Reserve. Established in 1980, when De Beers purchased the property, Venetia Limpopo Nature Reserve is situated in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. It is incorporated into the Greater Mapungubwe National Park, a World Heritage Site. Lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, giraffe, baobab trees and over 400 bird species are just some of the highlights that you will see in this 36 000 ha Nature Reserve. Since the year 2000 the conservation of Wild Dogs has been a major driver for this nature reserve – with tourists having the unique opportunity to track radio collared individuals for research purposes.
