Welcome to Snapshot Safari, the latest project from the Univ. of Minnesota Lion Center. Please help us identify the animals in these photos--this is an invaluable service to researchers and conservation managers throughout eastern and southern Africa!

About Snapshot Pilanesberg

Hundreds of camera traps spread across southern Africa are providing a powerful new window into the dynamics of Africa's most elusive wildlife species. We need your help to classify all the different animals caught in millions of camera trap images. Among South Africa’s fascinating game reserves, Pilanesberg National Park is possibly the most accessible, located adjacent to Johannesburg and Pretoria in the North West Province. Situated in the ecologically rich transition zone between the Kalahari and the Lowveld, this vast area delivers thrilling big game viewing for the many ecotourists who flock to the park.
