Finished! Looks like this project is out of data at the moment!
The images/videos used in this project show laboratory mice in their home cage environment.
Thank you very much for your fantastic work! We are taking a little break to look at the data generated so far and will be back very soon.
Burrow into the secret lives of mice to help us advance medical research and mouse welfare
Learn moreThere are 3 workflows associated with this project. One for each mouse in the cage, the tasks in each workflow are exactly the same but the mouse you are following will change, e.g. if you choose to follow 'Morning Routine of the Red Mouse' you will be describing the mouse identified by a red dot.
The details of each behaviour are explained in the Field Guide, which appears as a tab on the right hand side of the screen. The Tutorial will take you through how to complete the workflow.

Our mice are a vital part of important medical research into human illnesses. Such work in the UK is covered under the Home Office Animals Science and Regulation Unit (ASRU) and we hold the necessary licenses (Establishment, Procedural and Personal) to allow us to carry out experimental work on animals as legislated by the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Amended 2012). MRC Harwell holds Establishment Licence Number X9BFFDAE2.
For further information, please read our mouse welfare statement.
We have CCTV films our mice 24/7 in their cages, we now need your help to teach computers to recognise different behaviours which will help improve how mice are studied and cared for.
Watch videos of the morning routines of mice and tell us what you see!
