About SNAP: Sex aNd Aging Project

The Integrative Institute for Sex-specific Aging, Genomics, and Evolution (IISAGE) is focused on unraveling the mechanisms that lead to differences in how male and females age across the animal kingdom. This community science project aims to connect pet hobbyists with IISAGE scientists to build a comprehensive database including life history data from pet fish, amphibians, and reptiles. Many pet hobbyists keep extensive breeding records, attend meetings with other breeders, interact with the pet industry, and maintain endangered species. However, they are not typically engaged with scientists working on their species group of interest. This project aims to connect scientists with pet hobbyist groups with specific interest in groups focuses on Poeciliid fishes, reptiles, and amphibians.

We heavily encourage our community scientists to come back and keep us updated on their pets! In order to do this, make sure that with every entry you login so that your pet will remain connected to your profile.
