The NHM Library and Archives holds a large collection of natural history drawings and manuscripts many of which are of significant scientific importance. By applying crowd-sourced technologies we will be able to digitally unlock these collections.
NHMLibraryArchivesThe Natural History Museum’s Library and Archives is the national resource for natural historians, researchers, artists and academics. It has been developing its unparalleled collection of natural history literature, artwork and information resources since the Museum first opened its doors in 1881.
The Library and Archives are home to a considerable collection of unique works in the form of original drawings and manuscripts. These collections contain a wealth of scientific, historical and social research data and information that until now has remained locked inside such documents and digitally inaccessible. DUNA has been developed to enable us to harness the power and interest of volunteers to help us unlock our collections in order to make them digitally discoverable, accessible and open to all.
Every volunteer engaging with DUNA will play a crucial role in helping the Natural History Museum achieve its strategic priorities in transforming the study of natural history and engaging and involving the widest possible audience.
