FAQ

With one exception, the optical images, and the canvass on which the radio contours are displayed, come from SDSS Data Release 14.

The radio data is from FIRST (red contours) and NVSS (cyan contours), multi-year observations made by the Very Large Array (VLA). All observations were made at 1.4 GHz (21 cm). FIRST has a much better resolution than NVSS, so fine details which are "blurred out" in NVSS are visible in NVSS; on the other hand, NVSS often sees diffuse structure which FIRST is blind to.

Subject 19039086, in SDRAGNs09, is too far south for SDSS, ditto FIRST. The red contours are from ATLAS and the canvass from DSS; the optical only image is from DES.

Contours were produced using methods described in this Radio Galaxy Talk thread.
