LydiaKatsisAre you ready to be immersed into the tropical forests of Belize?
Acoustic sensors hidden in the trees give a unique insight into the soundscape of the forest. With thousands of animal species present, tropical forests make a lot more noise than you might expect!
Our project uses this acoustic data to combat poaching and aid wildlife conservation. Our primary aim is to listen for gunshots to understand patterns of poaching and help to protect the forest. But our sensors record much more than just gunshots - including sounds of howler monkeys, and a diversity of birds, frogs, and insects.
We need your help to identify the sounds we have recorded, so that we can better protect the forest. You will be among the first people to listen to these sounds of the Belizean tropical forest!
