Studying collisions between galaxies (galaxy mergers) have transformed our understanding of the Universe! With your help, we hope to better understand the connection between mergers and their role in shaping galaxy's evolution.

About Cosmic Disco: Characterizing Galaxy Collisions

Galaxy Zoo volunteers have helped characterize the morphological properties of several millions of galaxies, including the identification of colliding galaxies (galaxy mergers). These efforts have helped us train automated machine-learning methods that can tell if a galaxy is a merger or not. However, to better understand the role of merging on the transformation of galaxy's properties, we need to characterize the stage at which these are mergers are in!

Help us review the potentially merger-containing images picked by your friendly machine and tell us at what stage are the mergers in!
