About Picturing Michigan's Past

The Clements Library is home to the David V. Tinder Collection of Michigan Photography, which contains approximately 100,000 historical photographs of the Great Lakes State depicting the diverse people, cultures, cities, businesses, buildings, farms, and forms of transportation in almost every county in Michigan from the early 1900s to the 1950s. Our goal is to make 60,000 of these images on real-photo postcards digitally available, but we need your help to organize and describe them.
