If this is your first visit to the project and you haven't had an introduction to the project with Met Éireann staff (normally offered to community / youth groups, schools & universities), then please navigate to the 'how-to' videos in the FAQ section under the 'About' tab.
The weather records used in this project are grouped based upon the four provinces of Ireland: Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. They have also been divided into two categories: Data and Metadata. You can choose to explore the Data files where you will be asked to transcribe daily rainfall values for one month of the year or you can choose to explore the Metadata files where you will be asked to transcribe information about the station such as the station name, observer and unit of measurement.
To begin, please choose the province that you would like to explore. You will then be asked to select a county and a station. Once a station has been selected a weather record from that station will appear on the screen.

Converting these handwritten paper records into digital data not only provides important information about how our climate is changing but also brings to life the valuable work of our dedicated weather observers.

    Irish Weather Rescue について

We are looking for volunteer citizen scientists to help us digitise over 3.5 million historical rainfall observations. These early observations provide hugely valuable information about historical climate variability in Ireland and can be used to improve our understanding of climate-related risks to inform climate adaptation and planning.
