The Western Ringtail Possum (Pseudocheirus occidentalis) is a Critically Endangered marsupial endemic to the south west of Western Australia. It is an arboreal, nocturnal, folivorous possum, about 30-35cm from head to rump, and is distinguished by its long slender prehensile tail with a white tip, which it uses to curl around branches, helping it move through the bush, and to carry twigs and leaves to build its drey (nest).
This project is being run jointly by Oyster Harbour Catchment Group, the University of Western Australia, the Department of Biodiversity,Conservation and Attractions, and the City of Albany. It is funded by State NRM Community Action Grants.
