Computer models are powerful tools for identifying birds from recorded audio, but they can make mistakes. Help us find those mistakes as we study how fire and grazing are important to the birds of Texas!

Grasslands are declining across the United States, and so are the birds that live in them. The Prairie Project investigates prescribed fire and livestock grazing (together called pyric herbivory) to sustain prairie habitats in Texas.
Recorded sounds help us monitor how birds respond to these restoration efforts. The Autonomous Recording Units (ARUs) on our study site record thousands of hours of bird sounds every summer. Scientists have created artificial intelligence (AI) tools that identify birds from their sounds, but these computer programs make mistakes. By finding those mistakes, you can help us discover what AI is telling us about the impact of pyric herbivory on Texas birds.
