A World Map of Story Morals

About A World Map of Story Morals

Stories have always taught us how to live. They teach us what’s right and wrong, what matters most, and how we should treat one another. But in today’s world of endless digital information, the moral landscape of storytelling is vast and constantly changing. How can we develop AI systems to help us make sense of this moral complexity, and do so in open, transparent, and culturally sensitive ways?

As a Citizen Reader, you’ll help train AI systems to recognize and interpret the moral lessons that stories convey. Unlike most AI projects built behind closed doors, this one is open to everyone — designed to make the science of storytelling more transparent and inclusive. By reading stories and evaluating their possible morals, you’ll contribute to a global effort to build AI that understands human values more deeply.
