You Know Food? Calories, Carbon Footprint, Cooking, Food Safety, and Animal Welfare.

There is a food knowledge disconnect between the food research community, and general population. Academic experts know detailed information about foods, but do not know, (and cannot measure easily) what citizens understand or perceive to know about food. This pilot will use the STFC funded Zooniverse platform to ask citizens to provide their perceptions about images of specific food serving sizes. For each image, one of a range of questions will be asked including perceptions of Calorie Content, Carbon Footprint, Cooking Method, Cooking Time, Food Safety or Animal Welfare.

Please complete at least one range of questions. Questions are randomly assigned, therefore you cannot choose a range of questions. However, you can complete as many ranges of questions as you like! In this Beta test there are only 29 images, which are used for each range of questions.

This is a new style of Zooniverse project – in this project you can help research through sharing what you know (or your best guess), through completing just one (or many) classifications!

By taking part in the study I consent to the following:
I confirm that I have read and understand the Introduction information for the above study. I have had the opportunity to consider the information, ask questions and have had these answered satisfactorily.

I understand that my participation is voluntary and that I am free to withdraw at any time during my participation in this study and within 6 weeks after I took part in the study, without giving any reason. If I withdraw within 6 weeks of taking part in the study my data will be removed. Please note that only registered Zooniverse members are able to withdraw by contacting the research team with their Zooniverse ID

I understand that any information given by me may be used in future reports, academic articles, publications or presentations by the researcher/s, but my personal information will not be included and I will not be identifiable.

I understand that my name/my organisation’s name will not appear in any reports, articles or presentation without my consent.

I understand that data will be kept according to University guidelines for a minimum of 10 years after the end of the study.
