Finished! Looks like this project is out of data at the moment!
Q: How will my contribution be used?
A: Your contribution will be used to identify subjects and content in drawings and strengthen the search function on the Getty website. It will also help us reassess some of the traditional interpretations of these works.
Q: Why do curators and the public need this type of information?
A: Current keyword searches on the Getty website are limited to artist names, titles, and medium, and does not include subject descriptions. In order to make the Drawings Collection more searchable, we would like your help in providing keywords that describe individual pieces and make looking for subjects and themes easier.
Q: What do I get out of this project?
A: We hope that in the process of subject tagging drawings, participants will encounter pieces that spark their interest. If you would like to learn about a specific object, its function, technique, and role within the history of Western European art, please visit the Getty Museum’s website, which contains information about the majority of works in our collection. In case you have further questions, feel free to contact us at drawings@getty.edu.
Q: What does the Field Guide do?
A: The Field Guide provides tips for completing tasks. For more specific questions about workflow, refer to the Troubleshooting section in the Field Guide.
Q: Can I receive volunteer credit for my time?
A: Yes, you can! In order to receive credit, you must have a registered Zooniverse account, which tracks the number of classifications completed, but not the hours spent. Please submit your request using this form and include an estimate of the number of hours worked, the total number of classifications, and a screenshot of your Zooniverse stats page.
