FAQ
I'm not sure if some things that I'm seeing are homes. What do I do?
Make your best effort and go with your gut. Multiple people will be labelling each image, and we'll take into account where you agree and disagree. If you really want some feedback or input, try posting on the What am I looking at?! Talk board!
Where will my labelled images be used?
Your images will be used in research. They will help us improve techniques for finding dwellings and designing electrical distribution systems. There may be publications or tools produced using your work - we'll be sure to let you know when anything exciting is released! And we'll cite your contributions wherever possible.
Can I get access to the data I label?
At the end of this project, all labelled data will be posted online for research use. It will be hosted by the Satellite Applications Catapult. We would love if you used it to further this research!
What about privacy?
We don't collect any data about the people who live in the homes shown in these images. Images similar to what we are using are already available for public viewing on platforms like Google Maps or OpenStreetMap.
Who can I contact if things go wrong?
If anything is wrong on the platform, you can post about your issues on the Technical Help Talk board. We'll get back to you ASAP.
