On 28th October 2025, a catastrophic Category 5 hurricane made landfall in the Caribbean. This hurricane is one of the most powerful to have ever affected the region and caused large amounts of devastation. Firstly, it hit Jamaica, causing huge amounts of devastation with building and road damage alongside flooding. The storm went on to hit Cuba, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Currently, aid agencies in the Caribbean are working to get support to those who need it the most. The Logistics Cluster, headed by the World Food Programme, are planning access routes to deliver aid in response throughout the Caribbean.

This project is focusing on identifying road blockages and damage to infrastructure such as bridges, airports and ports. The data we generate will be crucial to inform humanitarian decision-makers planning supply routes, ensuring aid can reach the people who need it most.

As the situation evolves and the needs of responders and decision-makers evolve, this project will likely evolve too. Please check Talk for the most up-to-date information. Thank you.
